Email Security

Email security includes a combination of email encryption, digital signatures, content monitoring and policy compliance capabilities that are automatic and invisible to everyday users. Entrust delivers a variety of solutions to enhance native email security that can be quickly deployed "out-of-the-box" and seamlessly integrated into your existing messaging environment with minimum configuration requirements. The solution also serves as an integrated suite of components that can be customized to meet your specific email policy requirements.

Encrypting Email With Your Eyes Closed [430 kb]

Protecting Information at Your Electronic Boundary
The Entrust Entelligence Messaging Server is an email security gateway that operates at the server level (such as Microsoft® and Lotus Domino) to provide an easier and more efficient method for deploying email security to your users.

  • Email encryption can be applied before messages leave your organization
  • Email security processing is done at the server, saving time for users and reducing inbox sizes
  • Email security policies can be centrally managed and automatically applied
  • Your email security is not dependent upon users being aware of email encryption techniques
  • Encrypted email can be sent and received on hand-held devices such as RIM BlackBerry and HTML-enabled cell phones
  • Content can be automatically encrypted based on the list of recipients, the nature of the content or, in unique circumstances, as dictated by your security policy

Content Control

Integrating Email Encryption with Content Monitoring and Control
In a survey by Osterman Research, six percent of companies surveyed experienced a sensitive information leak, of which 83 percent reported losses were considered accidental. With the growing concern of corporate data breach and loss of sensitive information, organizations are increasing their adoption of outbound content control for legal compliance, protection against identity theft and safeguarding of intellectual property. Together, content control and automatic email encryption can provide an effective security solution for organizations to mitigate their risk of information breach and protect their corporate brand.

Entrust offers a variety of content filtering and control solutions including the ability to natively scan emails messages directly on the Entrust Entelligence Messaging Server or leverage industry-leading, third-party content-scanning solutions that customers may already have in place.

Content control works in conjunction with Entrust Entelligence Messaging Server to identify which messages need to be encrypted before they leave the boundary of an organization. Email content can be monitored with greater accuracy to detect intellectual property, personally identifiable employee information or sensitive customer data. Once detected, emails with sensitive information can be automatically encrypted, blocked or quarantined.
