US Federal Government

The US Federal government has long recognized the benefits of public-key infrastructure (PKI) for securing government data assets and communication. The US General Services Administration (GSA) has taken the lead in developing a strategic vision for identity management across the Federal government. As a trusted advisor to US Federal agencies, Entrust has taken an active role in helping to make this vision a reality. Over 60 US government agencies and bureaus use Entrust solutions.

Entrust provides solutions to complement a number of current US Federal government initiatives:

Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12)
Beginning October 2006, all government agencies will be required to issue smart cards with digital certificates for physical and logical access to their employees and contractors.

PKI Shared Service Providers
Going forward, agencies without a PKI will be required to purchase services from a Shared Service Provider (SSP). Agencies can get the benefit of Entrust solutions from purchasing from our SSP service.

E-Authentication for Government
Entrust GetAccess™ was added to the list of approved E-Authentication products in August 2004.

Federal Bridge Certification Authority
The Federal Bridge CA is a trust conduit for agencies using PKI, enabling secure communication and information sharing.

Solutions for the Department of Defense
The US Department of Defense has a mature public-key infrastructure and utilizes the Common Access Card (CAC) for DOD employees' and contractors' digital credentials. Entrust has solutions and toolkits to help the DOD to public-key enable applications.
